Entomology for Flyfishers
Join Ralph and Lisa in Truckee for a one day workshop on trout food.
Bugs are cool and this is a fun class! Using multi media, including a wealth of underwater video, we will spend the morning reviewing the insects important to flyfishers. Damselflies, midges, caddisflies, stoneflies and mayflies will be covered in depth. Learn the natural histories and lifecycles of these bugs as well as the behavioral characteristics that make them attractive to trout. After lunch we will go to the river where well collect and identify insects and match them to their imitations. Hint: you carry far too many flies!
This low key clinic will appeal to anglers and bug lovers of all levels. No previous experience is necessary, yet even long time anglers will take home overlooked fundamentals of identification and imitation of aquatic insects. Includes handouts and lunch.
