Stop Pebble Mine

Stop Pebble Mine Pebble will be one of North America's largest open-pit mega mines in the headwaters of Bristol Bay, Alaska. The Bristol Bay drainage is home to the world's largest salmon runs including the largest sockeye population on earth. Waters that will be diverted or subject to toxic discharge include such incredible trout streams such the Nushagak, Kvichak, Illiamna, Mulchatna, and Tularik. The Pebble Partnership is a consortium of foreign corporations who are leveraging antiquated US mining laws to strip Federally owned properties of American minerals and leave Americans holding the bag. The Pebble Mine complex, covering some 15 square miles, would include the world's largest dam (taller than the Space Needle) holding back one of the world's largest toxic waste dumps -2.5 BILLION TONS created in the mining process.
