| Randall picked the best parts of several effective patterns and came up with a fly far better than the sum of its parts. I typically use this to imitate hoppers and large stoneflies but it is much too valuable to be kept in the box when the big bugs aren't about. When used as an attracter it can be tied in numerous color schemes including royal, green, and black. To do the pattern justice, I'd highly recommend picking up a copy of Tying Dry Flies by Randall Kaufmann. | |
