| Soft hackles are more of a tying style than a particular fly. The body or abdomen is tied very sparse with a ball of fur at the head the flares a soft hackle collar. As the nymph drifts the hackles pulse in an extremely seductive fashion. Depending upon how it is fished, the soft hackle can imitate just about any insect. That this fly has survived two centuries is testimonial to its effectiveness. | |
