The matuka is a New Zealand creation that takes big fish world wide. The hackle wing of the matuka gives it a relatively wide profile making it the ideal imitation of perch, sunfish, and other wide bodied baitfish. Small (#10-14) matukas are nothing short of killer when used to imitate perch fry in the late summer and fall. Don't fail to try this pattern in lakes such as Crowley, Davis, and Martis. Read Streamer Strategies to learn more about using this fly.
