| The woolly bugger is an intern's fly: it can't be fished wrong. While daydreaming I've had buggers taken that just dangled lifeless off my rod tip. Some fish will take buggers when it is being stripped ultra fast and others prefer it drifted without drag. Experiment. Most buggers are tied in somber greens, browns and blacks, but for whatever reason bright purple ones will work when nothing else does. Again, experiment. A must have fly! Read Streamer Strategies to learn more about using this fly. |
